Actually, there are 2 apple trees in my office. They are the columnar apple trees that have been in containers out in the garden.

I have to admit…they kind of look like Charlie Brown apple trees…

Any guesses as to why I have the apple trees in my office? I might have a free grafted tomato plant to the first person who guesses correctly! (Then it’s your problem to get it through until May! Ha!)

I guess it is because they will not tolerate the extremes of the Kansas winters since they are planted in containers. The roots would freeze at the low temperatures we have had this winter.

I’m going to guess, based on your Twitter comment, that it’s to do with the Garden Show. Trying to get them to bud early for that?

Good guess! You are correct! I was hoping to trick everyone into thinking that I brought the trees in because of the cold weather. Actually, it is because I’m planning to use them for the Garden Show, and I need them to bud sooner rather than later!
